Overall musket is in very fine shape. This musket can be seen on Pg 79 of U.S. Military Small Arms by Robert Reilly. Actions and bore are fine. Lock is only dated 1864. The barrel is only marked M 3. Wood is very fine with crisp edges. Metal shows light age staining and no pitting. A few people have also said this may be a Whitney variation. A very nice musket overall that needs further research.
